Thursday Morning Weather Brief — September 11, 2025
Thursday starts off dry, but rain is on the way for parts of Labrador and Newfoundland from two different weather features.
Cooler and more damp pattern sets in for the rest of the week
It was a chilly start this morning in parts of central and western Newfoundland, with Badger hitting -1.2ºC — the first official freeze of the season. Thankfully, tonight won’t be quite as cold.

We are certainly waking up to some cool temperatures in some areas this morning, particularly between Badger and Deer Lake.
Frost Tonight, Record Warmth Possible Tomorrow, Rain on the Way Thursday
A frost advisory is in place tonight for parts of central and interior Newfoundland, with lows dipping near freezing. St. John’s could reach 20 °C on Wednesday before rain moves into southern and eastern Newfoundland Thursday with 10–20 mm expected.

The RCMP NL is responding to a fire near Route 233 near Sexton Lumber in Lethbridge this evening.

St. John’s is closing in on a new record for 20°C days, with more warmth and humidity this weekend. Showers develop Sunday, and I’m also watching the tropics.
