The week ahead looks mainly quiet across the Island with teens and 20s, while Labrador turns cooler with showers by Thursday.

The Northern Lights put on quite a show over parts of NL last night!

Weather-wise today, we are looking at sunshine across much of NL and unseasonably warm temperatures.

We’ll start off with near-to-well-above-normal temperatures, a welcome stretch of warmth for early September

Sunday’s showers and thunderstorms made for some very dramatic skies over parts of central Newfoundland Sunday evening. Monday will be much less… dramatic!

The Province has officially changed the status of the Kingston wildfire to Under Control.

Rain moves into Newfoundland overnight and will make for a very soggy Saturday across the Avalon, Burin, Clarenville, Terra Nova, and Bonavista regions.

The Provincial Government has lifted the evacuation order for Western Bay, Ochre Pit Cove, and the remaining portion of Northern Bay, effective immediately. All residents are now permitted to return to their communities.

The storms we had last evening formed along a cold front. That cold front moved offshore and took the showers with it.

We are waking up to some rain over the eastern and northeast sides of the Island. The heaviest rain is located on the Avalon, with lighter rainfall to the west.

Eastern Newfoundland finally picked up some much-needed rainfall today — and it could not have come at a better time.

We are waking up to rain falling across much of Newfoundland and Labrador to begin the day. The rain is heaviest over central and southern areas of Newfoundland as of about 6 AM.

It was a decent Monday weather-wise across Newfoundland, but air quality told a different story. Smoke from the Long Lake Fire in Nova Scotia pushed its way across much of the Island and even into parts of Labrador.

A wildfire burning in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley is producing smoke that has drifted into parts of western and central Newfoundland this afternoon.

We are starting the new work week with rain in the forecast… and lots of it in some areas!

The Provincial Government has lifted the evacuation order for Burnt Point, Gull Island, and the portion of Northern Bay north of the Northern Bay Brook Bridge. Residents in these areas can now return home effective immediately.
