Tuesday Morning Weather Brief — August 26, 2025
We are waking up to rain falling across much of Newfoundland and Labrador to begin the day. The rain is heaviest over central and southern areas of Newfoundland as of about 6 AM.
Wildfire Smoke Drifts Into Newfoundland, Rain on the Way, and Watching Fernand
It was a decent Monday weather-wise across Newfoundland, but air quality told a different story. Smoke from the Long Lake Fire in Nova Scotia pushed its way across much of the Island and even into parts of Labrador.

Monday Morning Weather Brief — August 25, 2025
We are starting the new work week with rain in the forecast… and lots of it in some areas!
Evacuation Order Lifted for the Areas of Burnt Point-Gull Island and a Portion of Northern Bay, Alerts Remain in Place
The Provincial Government has lifted the evacuation order for Burnt Point, Gull Island, and the portion of Northern Bay north of the Northern Bay Brook Bridge. Residents in these areas can now return home effective immediately.
Hurricane Erin Passes South, Waves Build Offshore
Hurricane Erin continues its track to the southeast of Atlantic Canada tonight and into Saturday. The storm will remain far enough offshore that we won’t see major impacts here in Newfoundland and Labrador, but it’s still close enough to leave its mark.
Showers for parts of NL close out the work week — August 22, 2025
Friday is going to be a relatively quiet day across the Province as we are between weather-makers. Temperatures will be comfortable to cool. Highs range from the teens to the lower 20s.
Wildfire Update & Forecast: Cooler Days Ahead, Hurricane Erin Brings Some Waves
We’ve received some good news on the wildfire front: both the Martin Lake fire and the Paddy’s Pond fire are now classified as “Held.”

We are starting the day with clear skies across the Province as we begin the day. Temperatures range from near 4º in Nain to the lower teens in southern areas of Newfoundland.

Sunshine returns Thursday across Newfoundland with highs in the upper teens and low 20s. Labrador sees a mix of sun, cloud, and a few showers.
