Friday Morning’s Weather Update — July 3, 2026
It’s Friday, July 3, 2026 and here is what you need to know about today’s weather across NL:
As of this writing - 8 AM - it’s generally cloudy across Newfoundland with areas of fog.
Numerous rain showers, along with areas of rain, are found across Labrador.
Clouds decrease on the Island through the day, except near south-facing shores, and highs climb into the lower and middle 20s (teens in onshore southeasterly flow). Humidex values reach the lower 30s in the warmest areas today.
Areas of showers and thunderstorms will roll into western Newfoundland this afternoon, followed by central Newfoundland. Some of the storms will be strong and produce locally intense rainfall, frequent thunder and lightning, small hail, and wind gusts up to 80 km/h.
Areas of rain, showers and thunderstorms will also be found in Labrador today, particularly in the east and north.
One of the hottest days of the summer is on the way for central and eastern Newfoundland tomorrow, with highs in the middle to upper 20s.

Today on the Island
Clouds break up through the day on the Island, though south-facing shores will hang onto more cloud. Highs climb into the lower and middle 20sº, though spots stuck in onshore southeasterly flow will be held to the teens. With the humidity, it'll feel like the low 30sº in the warmest areas.
The bigger story: areas of showers and thunderstorms move into western Newfoundland this afternoon, then spread into Central NL later on. Some of these storms will be strong. Locally intense rainfall, frequent thunder and lightning, small hail, and wind gusts up to 80 km/h are all possible where the strongest cells set up.
Today in Labrador
Rain, showers, and thunderstorms continue across the Big Land today, with the heaviest activity in the east and north.
Looking Ahead to Tomorrow
One of the hottest days of the summer arrives tomorrow for central and eastern Newfoundland, with highs reaching the middle to upper 20sº.
