Monday Morning’s Weather Update — July 6, 2026

Good Monday morning! Here are some highlights on the day(s) ahead:

  • An area of high pressure over Quebec will bring mostly sunny skies and comfortable temperatures to much of NL today — highs reach the upper teens to lower 20s on the Island and mid 20s in much of Labrador. It’ll be cooler in areas of onshore wind.

  • There may be a few showers this afternoon over northeastern Newfoundland, the Bonavista Peninsula and northern parts of the Avalon Peninsula (including the Metro).

  • It’ll be a little breezy Province-wide, with winds from the west or northwest at 15 to 30 km/h.

  • A ridge of high pressure buils in for Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing sunshine and temperatures in the mid 20s to low 30s across the region. The hottest temperatures will be round in Labrador.

Newfoundland’s Forecast

Mostly sunny today, with highs in the upper teens on the Avalon and in northeastern Newfoundland, and low 20s on the West Coast. It won't be wall-to-wall sun everywhere, though. Expect a few showers to pop up this afternoon over northeastern Newfoundland, the Bonavista Peninsula, and northern parts of the Avalon, Metro included. Keep the rain jacket handy if you're out that way.

It'll be a little breezy across the Island too, with west to northwest winds running 15 to 30 km/h. Anywhere you're getting onshore flow, expect it to feel a notch cooler than the daytime high suggests.

Labrador’s Forecast

Sunnier and warmer here. Western Labrador is headed for the mid 20s, while HVGB and area sit a bit cooler, closer to low 20s. Same westerly breeze applies — 15 to 30 km/h — so it won't feel stagnant anywhere.

Looking Ahead…

The real story is Tuesday and Wednesday. A ridge of high pressure builds in and parks itself over the region, and that means sunshine and a serious jump in temperatures. Highs climb into the mid 20s to low 30s across NL, with the hottest readings showing up in Labrador — Happy Valley - Goose Bay and the surrounding areas will be flirting with 30º by Wednesday. Enjoy today's more comfortable readings while they last.
