Tuesday Morning Weather Brief — November 18, 2025

Good Tuesday Morning!

We are waking up to scattered rain and snow showers across the Island this morning, with an area of steadier rain and high elevation snow over the West Coast and southern Northern Peninsula. Temperatures are generally hovering between 3º and 7º across the Island at this hour.

This morning’s update is sponsored by Roebothan, McKay, Marshall.

Meanwhile, in Labrador, snow continues to fall in the West, while much of the coast is seeing rain or rain mixed with wet snow. The 511NL.ca travel site shows the roads are snow-covered and partly covered along the TLH from westward to Labrador City. Route 516 is also listed as covered this morning. Webcams show that the Happy Valley-Goose Bay area picked up snow yesterday afternoon and last night — 6 cm was measured at the airport.

Today, we will see the rain and snow shower activity become less widespread over southern and western Newfoundland through the day. Granted, the showers will linger across the board. The snow will taper to flurries in Labrador by the end of the day or this evening. Future radar and satellite data confirm this nicely.

The wind will also be an issue today in some areas. Now, I’m not expecting the gusts we had yesterday morning, but in areas of southern and western Newfoundland along the Gulf or coast, and Labrador West, wind speeds will gust as high as 70 km/h. While that’s not wind warning criteria, it’s certainly enough to be noticeable.

The weather is expected to calm down after today, with the next bout of rain and snow not anticipated until late Friday or Saturday.

I’ll have my next update for you this afternoon. Have a great day!
