Newfoundland's forecast for today - June 4, 2026.

A warm southwesterly flow will be the rule across most of Newfoundland, while the Northern Peninsula remains stuck on the cool side of the weather pattern with rain, wind and much lower temperatures. Central and Western Newfoundland will see temperatures climb well into the upper teens and lower twenties this afternoon under a mix of sun and cloud. In fact, parts of Central may very well reach the low twenties, making it one of the warmest days we've seen so far this year and certainly this young month. Eastern Newfoundland, including the Avalon Peninsula, will also warm nicely away from immediate southwest-facing coastal areas, with many locations reaching the upper teens to near 20ºC despite a gusty southwest wind.

The Northern Peninsula will be a different…completely different story. It will be cooler, breezy and rainy thanks to a slow-moving cold front in the area. Southwest winds will gust between 50 and 70 km/h, especially near the coast and along the Strait of Belle Isle. If you're travelling in the area, expect reduced visibility and generally unpleasant conditions. Temperatures there will struggle to get much above 6°C.

Today’s forecast for the Northern Peninsula.

Labrador will generally see quieter weather today, except around the Straits, where it will be rainy and breezy. Highs will range from the single digits along the coast to the teens inland, for Goose Bay and in the west. Skies remain generally cloudy until later today when they begin to clear from north to south.

Labrador's forecast for today - June 4, 2026

Friday will bring a noticeable cool-down to the Island. Rain showers arrive during the morning, reaching eastern and central areas around daybreak. That rain is along a cold front. Temperatures will take a hit post-front, with highs only around 8ºC to 12°C across most of the Island. Labrador will start to warm back up a bit, with highs back to the middle and upper teens.

The good news is that Saturday looks much better. Sunshine returns to much of Newfoundland and Labrador, with temperatures rebounding into the teens to 20s across NL. The 20s will be found in the L part of the Province (Labrador).
