Thursday Morning’s Weather Brief | July 17, 2025

Good Thursday morning!

As we start the day, we are seeing temperatures in the teens across the Island portion of the Province, and in the single digits and teens in Labrador. Labrador is in for a cool-ish day, while the Island is in for a downright hot day.

If you like the images above, you can view them for yourself by visiting the Map Room.

A HEAT WARNING remains in effect for much of the Island today from Green Bay - White Bay eastward to the St. John’s Metro and parts of the Southern Shore. Temperatures in this area today will climb into the upper 20s to lower 30s, with humidex values as high as 38. I do expect mostly sunny skies for the Heat Warned area today as well. Be sure to stay hydrated, find shade and close those windows and blinds this morning to keep your house as cool as possible if you don’t have air conditioning.

There are two areas that will see a bit of active weather across the Island and those are the Northern Penisjla, where rain and showers will fall… most of which will pass north of Notre Dame and Bonavista Bays, and for southern areas where fog will become way more widespread and dense this afternoon as a surge of humidity moves in from the south.

Meanwhile, Labrador will see comfortable temperatures and increasing amounts of cloud ahead of an incoming low, which is set to bring heavy rain to the region overnight and Friday.

Temperatures and weather for Labrador today

The rainfall expected overnight and Friday across the Big Land will be significant and computer guidance suggests a widespread 25 to 50 mm is on the way. This will a good thing to help with any fires still smoldering in the area. Unfortunetly it doesn't look like that same widespread rainfall is on the way to the Island anytime soon.

Rainfall forecast for Labrador
