Thursday Morning Weather Brief — October 16, 2025

Good Thursday morning!

We are waking up to showers and drizzle on the Island, along with some fog. St. John’s and Gander are both reporting visibility below 1 km this morning. While radar will not show the fog, it will show you where the showers are located at this early hour.

This morning’s update is sponsored by Roebothan, McKay, Marshall.

We are also seeing some pockets of light rain along and near the southern coast of Labrador. While there is no radar in the Big Land, we can simulate what it looks like and how the rain in that area will play out through the day. The rain will push back toward the west today and arrive in the Goose Bay area this afternoon. The Northern Peninsula, along with parts of central and western Newfoundland, will also see some rain today from the same ‘band’.

Temperatures are fairly uniform as we begin the day, with most locations across the region in the middle to upper single digits. Temperatures will rise a little through the day, with highs reaching the upper single digits to lower teens. Some areas of southern Newfoundland may climb into the middle teens. I don’t expect much sunshine today.

This weather pattern will not change much over the next couple of days. In fact, I expect us to see a little more fog and drizzle throughout the day and into Friday as air with more moisture rotates onto Newfoundland from the north around the large low circling offshore.

I’ll have my next update posted this afternoon!
