The Weekend Forecast looks great… mostly!
🌤 A Beautiful Start
As of this afternoon, the only place dealing with any cloud cover is eastern Newfoundland. Everywhere else across the Island is mostly clear, and the satellite view shows that beautifully. Labrador has a few puffy fair-weather clouds and even a shower or two popping up—but nothing major.
There is a system I was watching earlier in the week, spinning to our southwest. It brought travel headaches to the U.S. Northeast yesterday and could again today. But good news: it’s staying south of us. Maybe, maybe a graze of showers on the southeast Avalon overnight, but otherwise it’ll miss us entirely.

🌞 Saturday: Sunnier Skies & Light Winds
Saturday’s looking like a gem:
On the Island: Eastern areas will see more sunshine than Friday. Central and western regions stay dry and bright.
In Labrador: Expect a few spotty showers through the afternoon and into the evening.
Winds will be light across the board, making for a great day to be outdoors.
🌬 Sunday: A Bit Breezier, Especially in Labrador
Things change a bit on Sunday as a cold front starts moving into western Labrador. That’ll bring:
Afternoon showers and the chance of thunderstorms to Labrador. Espeically west.
Winds picking up through the day, especially along:
The southwest coast
Northeastern Newfoundland
The Labrador coast
By late afternoon, we could see wind speeds around 20–30 km/h, with gusts even higher.
🎣 Marine Conditions: Overall Pretty Good
Your fishery forecast thru Sunday. I’ll post an update to include Monday’s forecast over the weekend!
If you’re heading out on the water, both Saturday and Sunday look decent, but Sunday could bring some choppier conditions depending on where you are.
Saturday: Light winds and manageable swells in most areas.
Sunday: Winds pick up, especially later in the day. That means the potential for localized wave action—especially in the Gulf and along the southwest coast.
For Fortune Bay, Bay St. George, and the Gulf, Sunday will be breezier, with gusts possibly over 40 km/h.
Nearshore waters in Notre Dame Bay, White Bay, and Green Bay should stay calm thanks to offshore winds—and with all those islands, you’ve got lots of shelter.
Labrador sees more swell on Saturday, with windier (but offshore) conditions on Sunday.
⚠️ Reminder: This is a general marine overview. For critical decisions, always check the official marine forecast from Environment Canada or reach out directly.
🌡 Temps: Warm Days & Comfortable Nights
Overnight: Very comfortable across the board.
Saturday Highs:
Island: warm and pleasant
Labrador: upper teens to low 20s with scattered showers
Sunday Highs:
Labrador cools off slightly with a few rumbles of thunder
The Island stays sunny with highs in the upper teens to 20s
