A PROVINCE WIDE FIRE BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL JULY 17 ....

Good Monday Morning! Here are some highlights on the day(s) ahead:

  • Monday will be warmer than Sunday for most of eastern and central Newfoundland, which saw highs in the teens and single digits yesterday. Highs reach the upper teens to lower 20s across the Province.

  • Sunshine will be common over the island, but showers and storms roll in this afternoon for the west, the GNP and parts of the central.

  • An area of low pressure will scoot across Labrador, bringing showers, rain, and possible thunderstorms.

TODAY’S FORECAST

Monday brings a warm-up across most of eastern and central Newfoundland after Sunday's cooler, showery conditions held highs to the teens and single digits. Highs today climb into the upper teens to lower 20s across the province, and sunshine will be widespread over the island through the morning and into early afternoon. That sunny stretch won't last everywhere, though — by afternoon, showers and thunderstorms move into the west coast, the Great Northern Peninsula, and parts of central Newfoundland, so the best window for outdoor plans in those regions is earlier in the day.

In Labrador, an area of low pressure scoots across the region today, bringing showers, periods of rain, and the potential for thunderstorms. That keeps Labrador's Monday considerably more unsettled than the island, where sunny skies dominate before afternoon instability builds in the west. Overall, it's a day of two different stories: a warm, mostly sunny start for the island giving way to afternoon storms in the west and central, while Labrador contends with wet, active weather from the passing low system.
