Monday Morning’s Weather Briefing — April 26, 2026
Good Monday morning!
Here are today’s weather highlights:
An area of high pressure will build into the region as our stationary low from the weekend finally drifts away.
Wind speeds and cloud cover will decrease today. Much of northeastern and eastern Newfoundland remains cloudy in the onshore, northerly flow.
Temperatures reach the single digits to near 10º above freezing today, with the warmest values being found in Labrador West!
We are in for a relatively quiet and spring-like stretch of weather this week!
This morning’s update is sponsored by Roebothan, McKay, Marshall.

As we begin the day we are looking at readings of 0º to -5º on the Island and between about -1º and -10º across the Big Land. Wind chills are as low as -8º across Newfoundland and generally aren’t a factor in Labrador as wind speeds are on the lighter side.
NL Observed temperatures as of 6:09 AM NDT (5:39 AM ADT).
An area of high pressure will build into the Province today and this will bring decreaing cloud cover as it does so. The exception will be for the northeast coast and northern parts of the Avalon Peninsla, where noshore flow and a closer proximity to our deparign low will keep the cloud cover in play today. However, even this area should start to see some sunny breaks by evening. The animation below simply shows future cluod cover and illustrated this point well.
Temperatures today will be downright spring-like in much of Labrador, peaking at 7º to 12º, except along the coast, where they will be near 0º.

On the Island it will be a bit of a different story with respect to temperatures as it will be a tad cooler, with highs generally in the lower to mid single digits this afternoon. However a few spots of western and southwestern and even southern Newfoundland could get close to 10º this afternoon.
