Eastern Newfoundland and the Avalon — a split day for the peninsula. St. John's and the north Avalon will see cloud into the morning with some clearing by afternoon and a high around 17 degrees. But right along the water it stays cooler, around 12, and the fog hangs near the coast. The south end of the Avalon — the Cape Shore, the east coast down through the Burin Peninsula — stays stuck under a 60 percent chance of drizzle through most of the day, with fog retreating to the coast by afternoon and spreading back inland overnight. Highs 11 to 16 across the region; warmest at St. John's and points north, coolest right on the coast.

Central Newfoundland — Central gets the best of it today. Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, and Terra Nova wake up to some fog and low cloud that clears through the morning, then sun takes over for most of the afternoon. The warmth builds quickly — highs 21 to 24, with a humidex up to 25 or 26 making it feel more like early summer elsewhere. Inland communities like Green Bay and White Bay will see 25 degrees. Then the heat tips into instability: showers and thunderstorms are likely by late afternoon (40 to 60 percent chance), with the storm risk lingering into the early evening before things clear out overnight. The Northeast Coast stays cooler, around 14 to 16, with sea influence keeping things damp.

Newfoundland's forecast for today - June 29, 2026.

The West Coast — The West Coast has a big split between the valleys and the shore. In the Humber Valley — Deer Lake, Pasadena, those inland pockets — expect a warm and humid afternoon near 24 degrees with afternoon shower risk (40 percent) after a sunny morning. Corner Brook and Bay St. George will see morning drizzle clearing to mixed sun and cloud with highs around 18 in town, 13 along the coast. Stephenville and the Bay St. George coastline stay cooler and cloudier all day. Warmest where you're sheltered from the southwest flow; coolest right at the water on the Bay of Islands.

The South Coast — Burgeo, Hermitage, and Connaigre — stays under cloud and drizzle most of Monday. Highs 13 to 14 along the coast, but jump inland and it reaches 20. Fog spreading back along the coast overnight.

Southwest Coast — Port aux Basques and the surrounding area — similar story: cloudy, 60 percent drizzle through the morning, some clearing to mixed sun and cloud by afternoon, high around 14.

GNP and the Straits — the Northern Peninsula is where the wind is today. Southwest 20, gusting to 40 km/h through most of Monday and into Monday night along the Strait of Belle Isle, from Gros Morne up through Port Saunders and Red Bay on the Labrador side. St. Anthony itself does better — morning cloud gives way to sun by afternoon, and it warms to around 18 degrees with west winds around 20. Along the Strait coast, it stays cool (10 to 12 at Port Saunders) and breezy with morning drizzle. The gusts ease a bit Tuesday before building again mid-week.

Labrador — a solid day across most of the Big Land. After a clear or partly cloudy night, Lab West (Lab City, Wabush) is in for a mix with highs near 23 and northwest winds around 15 to 20. Goose Bay and the Lake Melville area is the warm spot — highs pushing to 26 or 27, partly cloudy, with afternoon shower risk tied to the daytime heating and northwest flow. The North Coast (Nain and north) will see afternoon showers with a 40 to 60 percent chance; highs around 16 along the coast, warmer inland. The Strait of Belle Isle and Red Bay are still in that southwest flow at 20 gusting 40.

Labrador's Forecast - June 29, 2026

Looking ahead: a significant low-pressure system sitting over the southeastern United States right now is the week's main unknown. Depending on how far north it tracks over the next couple of days, it could organize something more substantial for Atlantic Canada by midweek — potentially showers or a rainier period for the Avalon and the South Coast by Wednesday. The fog-and-drizzle pattern along the coasts isn't going anywhere quickly for Tuesday either. Meanwhile, the warm interior pattern holds: central NL and much of Labrador look at another warm day or two before a more active pattern potentially returns by mid-week. Worth keeping an eye on how this evolves.
