Friday Morning Weather Brief — September 26, 2025
Good Friday morning!
A system tracking out of the northeastern United States and Maritimes will spread wet and breezy weather across the province today. Temperatures will be mild again for many areas, with highs in the teens to near 20. Labrador will be somewhat cooler.
Today’s Highlights
West Coast/GNP: Rain begins in the morning (it may have already).
Central & Labrador: Showers develop by midday.
Eastern Newfoundland: Rain arrives in the afternoon and evening.
South Coast: Rain falls throughout the day and will end from west to east
Labrador: Rain and showers through much of the day

The heaviest rain will fall along the South Coast and parts of southern Newfoundland, where 20 to 40 mm is on the way from this morning into later today and tonight. Areas farther north, including Labrador, will see 5 to 15 mm of rain. As always, locally higher amounts are possible.
Wind Speeds
Daytime Friday: Increasing winds along the south and southwest coasts; a Wreckhouse Wind Warning is in effect from this morning into the afternoon for gusts as high as 100 km/h.
Friday Evening: Burin Peninsula, Avalon, and Marystown could see sustained winds of 40–50 km/h with gusts up to 60–70 km/h.
Overnight: Winds ease across Newfoundland into early Saturday morning.
Saturday’s Outlook
By Saturday morning, most of the rain will have cleared the island, leaving only a few lingering showers.
Newfoundland: Quiet but breezy, especially in exposed areas.
Labrador: Winds increase through the day, with gusts potentially reaching near 70 km/h in some areas.
Temperatures: Reach the teens on the Island and single digits to lower teens in Labrador.
