Wednesday Morning’s Weather Brief | July 16, 2025

We’re off to a warm and foggy start across much of Newfoundland this morning, with relatively calm weather across the province. Here's what you need to know today:

Mild Start with Some Fog

Temperatures are already mild in most areas. Many locations on the Island are waking up to readings in the upper teens and low 20s.

Fog is widespread along south-facing shorelines due to onshore flow, especially in southern and southeastern areas. Flowers Cove on the Northern Peninsula is also seeing reduced visibility this morning due to fog. In Labrador, it’s a cooler start to the day. There are a few showers in the southeast, and the Cartwright Junction webcam shows wet roads early this morning.

Today’s Outlook: Labrador

It’s a more comfortable air mass in Labrador today, with highs expected in the teens and lower 20s. There may still be a few showers in the southeast early on, but most areas will stay dry under a mix of sun and cloud.

Today’s Outlook: Newfoundland

Most of the Island will see a mix of sun and cloud today. However, clouds will begin to increase over the West Coast and Great Northern Peninsula this afternoon. Along the south coast, it’ll stay cooler due to the onshore flow — but that comes with more fog and low cloud cover throughout the day.

A sea breeze may develop along parts of the northeast coast and the northern Avalon, which could drop temperatures by a few degrees this afternoon.

Highs today will reach the mid to upper 20s, and some interior and central areas may even hit the low 30s. The humidex will push temperatures into the 30s for many inland spots.

The final verdcit for today

It’s a classic summer day in Newfoundland and Labrador — warm and muggy in some places, foggy in others, and quiet overall. Keep an eye on those sea breezes if you're along the coast this afternoon.

Have a great Wednesday and I’ll have a detailed extended forecast posted this afternoon.
