After a stretch of cool weather, change is on the way for Newfoundland and Labrador as warmer air begins to move in from the west.
Friday’s Forecast
Tomorrow will feel much more like late September than early October. Sunshine will dominate much of the province, with temperatures rebounding nicely:
Central NL: Highs near 17º to 20º.
East Coast: Highs in the middle to upper teens.
West Coast & Northern Peninsula: Mid to upper teens, cooler in exposed coastal areas. Wind along the GNP as well.
Labrador: A widespread warm-up with 19°C in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Mary’s Harbour, 15°C in Churchill Falls, and near 20°C possible in some inland areas.
The Weekend
The weekend looks mostly dry across the region. Saturday will be the warmer of the two days, especially in eastern Newfoundland, while Sunday brings a noticeable cool-down for eastern areas. Highs will be in the middle teens Saturday and closer to 10º Sunday. The GNP and Labrador should see more uniform conditions, with highs generally in the 7–10°C range.
Atlantic Outlook
Former Hurricane Imelda, now a post-tropical system, will stay well offshore in the North Atlantic. While it may stir up higher seas, there is no direct impact expected for Newfoundland, Labrador, or Atlantic Canada.
Across Canada
Elsewhere in the country, conditions remain fairly calm heading into the weekend. Some rain will develop over parts of western Ontario and eastern Manitoba by Sunday, while snow begins creeping into far northern Canada. Temperatures in southern cities like Winnipeg, Toronto, and even Vancouver will be in the mid-to-upper teens, with some spots touching 20°C.
