Good Thursday Morning! Here are today’s highlights
An area of low pressure moves into Labrador today from eastern Quebec and brings rain, showers, and increasing wind speeds Province-wide.
Rain is already falling in the Big Land; it will do so for much of the day, with highs in the middle to upper teens.
Sunshine this morning across the Island gives way to clouds by early afternoon, with rain arriving west around noon and on the Avalon by evening. Highs reach the mid-to-upper teens.
Wreckhouse wind gusts peak in the 80 to 100 km/h range this afternoon before subsiding.

A low pressure system is working its way through eastern Quebec toward western Labrador this morning. Ahead of it, the Big Land is seeing gusty winds along with areas of rain and showers, some of them heavy. It's also considerably milder than the past couple of mornings across Labrador.
Province-wide observed temperatures as of 5:52 AM NDT (September 10, 2026).
On the island, most areas are starting the day with sunshine and cool temperatures, generally in the single digits. It's a touch breezy in the west while eastern areas are calm, but that changes as the day goes on, with winds increasing as that low tracks toward western Labrador. That sunshine won't last either. Clouds gradually take over through the day, and by early afternoon rain showers arrive on the west coast, the Northern Peninsula and the south coast, pushing east to reach the Avalon early this evening.

In Labrador, areas of rain and showers continue through the day as that first low feeds energy into a secondary low developing near Happy Valley Goose Bay later today and tonight.
Highs across the province generally peak in the middle to upper teens, and it will feel noticeably more humid than the last couple of days with the increased southerly flow.

One thing worth flagging: even without a warning in place, winds through the Wreckhouse area gust near one hundred kilometres an hour this afternoon for a few hours before easing early this evening.

Tonight brings rain to most of Newfoundland, ending Friday morning. Friday turns showery and a bit cooler across the island, with showers most prevalent over western areas, and highs in the middle to upper teens for central and eastern regions, cooler in the west. Labrador is also showery and cooler Friday. Highs reach the upper teens in the southeast, single digits in the north, and near ten in the west.
As of now, things look to clear out by Saturday, and a decent weekend appears to be on tap.
