Good Thursday Morning! Here are today’s highlights
It’s a cool start across the Province this morning, with temperatures ranging from the lower single digits to near 10ºC as of 5:30 AM.
Sunshine will be the rule today for most areas of NL. The exception is Lab. West, with some showers later today.
Highs rebound into the upper teens to lower 20s across the board.
Friday looks good across NL, but the weekend forecast still looks very soggy on the Island and decent in the Big Land.

Temperatures this morning are sure starting off on the cool side across Newfoundland and Labrador, with readings from the lower single digits to the lower teens. The coolest spots (at this time) appear to be on the Avalon Peninsula… St. John’s West is currently reporting a temperature of just 2.6ºC.

Skies are clear this morning, and for the most part, they will stay that way across the Province through the day. That will lead to a nice recovery in temperatures, with daily highs reaching the upper teens to lower 20s for the vast majority of the Province.

The exception will be in Labrador West, where clouds and showers roll in during the second half of the day, as an area of low pressure takes shape over the Maritimes. This low will bring a change in the weather pattern for the Labor Day long weekend, which will not be for the better if you’re hoping for sunshine and warm temperatures.

Tomorrow looks quite similar across the region, with highs again reaching the teens and lower 20s. If you’re on the Island, and want to to enjoy the outdoors, I suggest doing so tomorrow or Saturday morning.
This Weekend… Two outcomes
Scenario A: An area of low pressure will take shape over the weekend and has the potential to bring heavy rainfall to a large chunk of southern, eastern, and even central Newfoundland between Saturday afternoon and Monday. On top of that, this system will have some wind and gusts up to 60+ km/h, which are a strong possibility for much of Newfoundland in the mentioned time frame. Rainfall amounts are uncertain at this time, but totals in excess of 30 to 50 mm are possible over much of the Island. This setup leads to temps in the teens and very little, if any, sunshine the weekend.
Scenario B: There is also the possibility the system stays just far enough south of Newfoundland to keep the significant rain offshore. This would also lead to temperatures in the teens, with less rain and a little sun. It would still be breezy.
