Thursday Morning’s Weather Briefing — March 26,
Good Thursday morning!
Here are today’s weather highlights:
Rainfall and Wind Warnings were issued earlier this morning by Environment Canada for much of southern and southeastern Newfoundland ahead of our inbound weather maker. A Wreckhouse Wind Warning is in effect as well. To see the alert details, tap here or on the red bar at the top of this page.
Winds will peak this afternoon and evening around 100 km/h. Wind speeds over southeastern Newfoundland will peak between tonight and tomorrow evening (from the south) around 100 km/h as well.
The day will start quietly, wind speeds will ramp up throughout the day, and snow will arrive in many areas of southern and western Newfoundland late this afternoon, along with southeast Labrador.
Most of the Island will see the snow end overnight, or change to rain. In the east and southeast expect a quick change to rain and then periods of heavy rain through the overnight and Friday.
The West Coast and GNP will see a mix of rain and snow on Friday, or just snow.
Southeast Labrador and much of the coast will see snow and wind beginning tonight and continuing through Friday
