Tonight & Tomorrow

A cold front will push across the Island overnight, bringing showers that gradually wind down. Behind the front, noticeably cooler air takes over. Labrador is already feeling it, with overnight temperatures forecast to be near 0°C and even a chance of wet flurries in the west and over higher terrain. For the Island, lows will dip into the single digits to near 10ºC overnight.

The Weekend Forecast

  • Saturday: Labrador West warms slightly to 5–6°C, with slightly warmer readings on the coast, while Newfoundland recovers to the mid-teens with plenty of sunshine.

  • Sunday: A bright day for most of Newfoundland, while Labrador’s coast will see breezy conditions and showers. A few showers are also possible in western Newfoundland late in the day. Highs reach the mid-teens on the Island and single digits to low teens in Labrador.

Looking Ahead

By Monday and Tuesday, Newfoundland bounces back to more seasonable late-summer conditions, with highs near 18–19°C and sunshine. Labrador stays a little cooler but is still milder than the weekend.

The Seasonal Shift

The autumnal equinox officially arrives Monday at 3:49 PM NDT, marking the astronomical start of fall across North America.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues spinning in the Atlantic with sustained winds near 85 km/h. While it is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane in the next 24–36 hours, it poses no threat to Newfoundland or Labrador as it tracks well southeast of the province early next week
