Good Monday Morning!

Here are today’s highlights:

  • Temps are in the single digits above and below freezing as we start the day across the Province.

  • Sunny skies rule the day on the Island, along with highs in the mid-teens to lower 20s. It will be cooler in areas of onshore winds.

  • Showers and rain arrive in Labrador West this afternoon and in southwest Newfoundland overnight.

  • A Wreckhouse Wind Warning is in effect from tonight through midday Tuesday for wind gusts as high as 130 km/h from the southeast.

Newfoundland's forecast for today - May 25, 2026

Newfoundland Today

A mix of sun and clouds, with mostly sunny skies, will be common across the Island today. Highs will reach the middle to upper teens in most areas. I say most because in locations with onshore winds, it will be cooler, with readings only in the single digits. We can see this reflected well in the high-resolution map below. It will not be windy, and today will be nearly cloudless across the Island.

Forecast temperatures as of 3:30 PM NT on May 25, 2026.

Soak this in because the weather pattern changes after today, and much of eastern/northeast Newfoundland looks to be in for several days of rain, drizzle and fog as various waves of moisture move in from the Atlantic due to a stubborn blocking pattern setting up shop.

Wreckhouse Wind Warning - Tonight into Tuesday

Wreckhouse Wind Warning as of May 25, 2026 @ 6:30 AM NDT

A Wreckhouse Wind Warning is in effect from tonight through midday tomorrow. Southeast winds will gust as high as 110 km/h overnight and 130 km/h on Tuesday. Driving conditions will likely be difficult. High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind. Disruptions to services and travel are possible.

Labrador Today

Sunshine will start the day, and for much of the Big Land, it will remain the case until this evening. The exception will be in the west, where clouds roll in this afternoon, followed by showers and some rain by evening. Temperatures will peak in the teens across the north, central and western areas, while in the east and southeast, highs will be closer to 10º.
