Monday Morning Weather Brief — October 20, 2025

Good Monday morning!

The day is starting off with lingering showers, drizzle, and fog on the northern half of the Avalon Peninsula, the Bonavista Peninsula, and parts of the northeast coast. Outside of that, it’s generally cloudy to mostly cloudy, but dry. Temperatures as you’re getting ready to head out the door are generally in the lower to middle single digits.

After several days of rain, drizzle and fog for a good chunk of coastal Labrador and northern/eastern areas of Newfoundland, the pattern is changing today. An area of high pressure is going to build in, which will lower the wind speeds and bring an end to the damp weather. Most of the Province will see a return to sunshine today… but most isn’t all… areas of the Avalon (north/metro) and some locations around Trinity and Bonavista Bay will remain in the cloud cover through much of the day.

Temperatures today will be quite varied between Labrador and the Island. On the Island, highs will reach the upper single digits to near 10º for most areas. The exception will be along the South Coast, where highs will reach the middle teens. Speaking of middle teens, that is where much of Labrador will be today for highs— well above normal!

The forecast for Newfoundland and Labrador for October 20, 2025.

The area of high pressure over the Island today will slide eastward overnight and on Tuesday. This will set many areas up for a warmer Tuesday. At the same time, an area of low pressure will slowly meander towards Labrador from Quebec and will try to bring some rain and showers into the region. Once again, it looks like the moisture will run out before it gets to NL. On top of that, the position of the high will send in another bout of unseasonably warm air over the Island.

The next chance of significant precipitation in the Province looks to be later Wednesday or Thursday. I’ll have an update on that for you later today.
