Monday Morning Weather Brief — October 13, 2025

Good Monday morning and Happy Thanksgiving!

We are beginning the day with some fairly chilly temperatures across parts of the Island and Labrador West. The coldest spot, at this hour at least (5:30 AM NDT), looks to be Badger, reporting a temperature of -4.6ºC. The warmest spot is Ferolle Point (Northern Peninsula) where it’s almost 10ºC!

Monday’s Forecast

An area of high pressure is centered over the Lower North Shore of Quebec this morning and will dominate the forecast over Atlantic Canada. Across Newfoundland and Labrador, expect lots of sunshine and temperatures near or above the seasonal normals for today. That translates to highs in the lower to mid-teens across the board, after this morning’s cool start. The breeze from the west-northwest will make it feel a bit cooler, with wind speeds of 20 to 40 km/h.

This morning’s update is sponsored by Roebothan, McKay, Marshall.

Tuesday’s Forecast

Tomorrow (October 14, 2025) is election day, and the forecast looks very similar to today. While many folks today have a tough time agreeing on almost everything, I think we can all agree that the weather won't hold you back from voting tomorrow. Voting is very important, and in this election, it could very well shape the potential prosperity of Newfoundland and Labrador for generations to come.

The weather pattern will change to a more typical one with sunshine and blue skies after Tuesday. Northernly flow will set up shop over the region, making it damp, cool, and cloudy. It looks like we are in for the first bout of true RDF in a very long time. Whether this results in meaningful rainfall remains to be seen… There is a chance for significant rainfall on Saturday, but computer guidance is currently in poor agreement on this issue.

My next forecast will be posted this afternoon.

Happy Thanksgiving!
