Frost Advisory Issued by Environment Canada For Early Wednesday Morning
Environment Canada has issued yellow-level frost advisories for a large portion of central, northeastern and western Newfoundland, with patchy frost expected to develop early Wednesday morning.
The advisories cover:
Deer Lake - Humber Valley
Buchans and the interior
Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity
Green Bay - White Bay
Bay of Exploits
Bonavista North
Gander and vicinity
Bonavista Peninsula
Terra Nova
Clarenville and vicinity
Northern Peninsula East
Clear skies, light winds and cool temperatures will allow frost to develop overnight, particularly in low-lying inland areas.
Temperatures across the advisory area are expected to fall into the -1°C to +5°C range, with the coldest readings most likely in sheltered and low-lying locations. Coastal areas will generally remain a little milder.
The greatest potential for freezing temperatures will be across parts of the west, central Newfoundland and the Northern Peninsula, where temperatures could fall as low as -1°C.
Farther east, including Gander, Terra Nova, the Bonavista Peninsula and the Clarenville area, overnight lows will generally range from around 2°C inland to 5°C near parts of the coast.
Frost could damage sensitive plants, trees and crops, particularly in areas where temperatures fall close to or below freezing. The frost is expected mainly early Wednesday morning, before temperatures begin to rise after sunrise.
