Avalon Peninsula Under Special Weather Statement For Labour Day Weekend
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Avalon Peninsula, where a developing weather system could bring significant rainfall this weekend.
Rain is expected to begin Saturday afternoon and continue until Sunday afternoon. Current forecasts indicate widespread totals of 40 to 70 mm, with the heaviest rain likely falling Saturday night.

St. John’s and vicinity
The Avalon Peninsula Southeast
The Avalon Peninsula Southwest
The Avalon Peninsula North
There remains some uncertainty about exactly where the heaviest rain will fall. However, some areas could receive enough rain to cause water pooling on roads and localized flooding in low-lying or poorly drained locations.
Anyone travelling Saturday night or Sunday morning should be prepared for potentially difficult driving conditions. Environment Canada recommends considering adjustments to travel plans to avoid the worst conditions.
