Wednesday Morning Weather Brief — October 1, 2025

Good Wednesday morning! The day is certainly starting off on the cold side, with multiple areas of central and parts of western Newfoundland reporting temperatures near or below the freezing mark. As of just before 6 AM, Badger, Millertown, and Deer Lake were all reporting readings near or below freezing. Meanwhile, up the TCH a tad, both Grand Falls-Windsor and Bishop’s Falls were reporting temperatures between 2º and 3º.

Even St. John’s is reporting 2º at this early hour. There may be frost in areas that are above freezing, so as you step out the door this morning, beware of some icy patches on your front step (bridge) and allow some extra time to scrape off that windshield. Or at least get the front and rear defrosters going!

Weather-wise, today you can expect a mix of sun and clouds across most of NL, with lighter wind speeds than yesterday. There will be some scattered showers this afternoon for parts of central and eastern Newfoundland. I’d give any particular area about a 30% chance of seeing showers today. Which means that any location between central and the east coast has a 30% of seeing a rain shower, not that 30% of the area has a chance of showers.

NL's forecast for today, October 1, 2025

Outside of those showers, there’s not much going on today in the weather department. Tomorrow looks similar, and then we are in for a bit of a warmup. In fact for Thursday and Friday, and even the weekend it looks a return to the weather we were seeing through much of September. It will be sunny, above normal (temperature-wise) and dry.

My next forecast will be posted this afternoon, where I plan to have a wrap-up on how dry September was across the Province. Have a great day, and be sure to get my app if you haven’t already!
