We are still seeing some showers and flurries over parts of western Newfoundland and the Northern Peninsula this morning. The radar loop shows that well. There is also still a fair bit of rain and snow on the go throughout much of Labrador, and even though the radar doesn’t show it (there aren’t any in Labrador), observations from the area confirm that.

The showers and flurries we are seeing across the board will end today. On the Island, that will happen later this morning. And in Labrador, the rain and wet snow along the coast will end by early afternoon. Following that, skies will become generally sunny Island-wide today. Temperatures rebound to the lower and middle teens for central and eastern areas, while it will be a bit cooler in the west and south.

Labrador will also see a rebound in temps today, with readings reaching the teens for some, but generally remaining in the single digits. Skies will be a bit more cloudy in the Big Land, especially in the west, where showers will return this afternoon.

Labrador’s forecast for today — May 5, 2026. Winds will be from the southwest at 20 to 40 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h at times.

Those showers are on the leading edge of some warmer air, which will set the stage for a very warm Wednesday across much of NL…. with some places on the Island having the potential to reach 20ºC for the first time this year!
